Alley Cat Studio

Open Showcase

Alley Cat is usually a favorite spot along the JCAST route, at least that’s what people have told said! For those that have never been, we convert a garage into an art studio space for the weekend.  Featuring photographer Beth Achenbach who has been participating in the tour since 2002!

We are a family friendly, LGBTQ friendly, pet friendly, and just plain friendly location. We are located in the alley off Coles Street that is located between 4th Street and 5th Street.

Joanne Simmons

Joanne grew up in London and was always making things, her mum would sit with her and teach Joanne how to sew, go to bead shops with her and encourage her to make things and be creative. In 2005, Joanne couldn’t find any jewelry that she really loved, so she decided to make something herself. Joanne's designs were more elaborate than her technique allowed, but she kept going and realized she was actually quite good at designing and making jewelry. So Joanne started to make jewelry for her friends and family and then at craft fairs where people loved her designs. Joanne's business grew organically and her technical skills too, to where she is now - a full time designer and metalsmith. This year along with showcasing her jewelry, Joanne will be exhibiting photos from her summer trip to Africa where she went on safari and climbed to the top of Mr. Kilimanjaro in order to fundraise for the Michael J. Fox Foundation and Parkinson's research.
